2. Online: Requesting the Identified Archival Records
If the archival materials relevant to your research topic are not yet available in digital form, they must be consulted in person in the Reading Room of the Augsburg City Archives. Requests for records must be submitted in advance through the Digital Reading Room. To do so, you must first create a user account.Once your account has been set up, you can request the records you wish to consult directly through the system. The requested materials will then be retrieved and prepared for use in the Reading Room. You will be informed as soon as the records are available for consultation.
Availability of Archival Records
Despite indicating a preferred date for your visit, the waiting time may vary depending on the collection concerned and the condition of the archival materials. In particular, records from the Older Holdings (pre-1806 records) generally require a longer lead time, as they must undergo a conservation assessment before they can be made available. As soon as the requested archival materials are available, you will be notified both by e-mail and through the status information in your user account.
Please do not visit the Reading Room under any circumstances before receiving notification that the requested records are available. The archival materials may not yet be ready for consultation, which could result in an unnecessary journey and inconvenience.
